Lost Ark offers a multitude of advanced classes with their own distinct playstyles. On top of that, most advanced classes have multiple builds. The Sorceress can offer some of the best burst damage in the game or the most consistent damage in the game with some visually satisfying abilities.

About the Sorceress

The Sorceress is an advanced class for the mage. As a Sorceress, you can handle both boss monsters with some hard-hitting spells and large mobs of enemies with a plethora of area of effect spells.

The Sorceress has a meter that they can build up to release a large amount of burst damage potential. At 30% you enter a state that will increase your damage by 10% and decrease casting time by 50% on channeling abilities. However, if you wait till the meter is full you obtain a 20% increase damage bonus, a 50% decrease in casting time on channeling abilities, and -25% on active cooldowns.

Choosing a Playstyle

In Lost Ark, you have a choice between two engravings that will change how your class plays. The Sorceress has to choose between Igniter and Reflux. Igniter is the burst damage option and Reflux is the sustain damage option. Reflux is looked at as the easier option and does a bit less damage but both playstyles are more than viable.

Igniter (Burst Damage)

The Igniter playstyle increases the active cooldown reduction to -50% and increases crit rate and crit damage when activating your class meter at 100%. The meter will decrease over time and when you use the blink ability (x). The basic idea of this playstyle is to charge your meter to 100%, activate the buff, use all your big damage abilities before the buff runs out, and repeat. This playstyle can be tough because the big damage abilities are all channeling and some bosses are very mobile.

Recommended Abilities

Here are some recommendations for damage abilities. Note, these are channeling abilities so be careful. And for the last tripod, there is one called magic amplification which you should take because it will increase the damage to your ability while your buff is active.

  • Punishing Strike - Calls a lightning bolt down from the sky doing massive damage in a wide area.
  • Explosion - Shoots out a fireball on your cursor and explodes on impact in a medium area.
  • Doomsday - Calls down a massive meteor for massive damage.

Your other abilities should be used to generate meter. You can use almost anything but here are a few recommendations.

  • Rime Arrow - Calls forth multiple spikes of ice to hit your enemy
  • Frost’s Call - Generates a ball of frost at the target location that tics for damage and explodes after a few seconds. Make sure to take the “Unstable Rule” tripod to change this skill to a normal skill and not a hold skill.

Stat Priority and Engravings

We won’t get into the nitty-gritty here but the stats you want to look for are specialization and swiftness or specialization and crit.

Some good engravings to look out for are:

  • Igniter - Increases the active cooldown reduction to -50% and increases crit rate and crit damage when activating your class meter at 100%
  • All-Out-Attack - Increases casting speed and damage of holding and channeling abilities.
  • Hit Master - Increase damage of attacks that don’t have frontal or back attack mechanics (Sorceress’s main damage abilities do not have these so will benefit a lot from this engraving).
  • Precise Dagger - Increases crit chance at the cost of crit damage.

Reflux (Sustain Damage)

The Reflux playstyle removes the class meter but increases your damage and decreases cooldowns. The basic idea of this playstyle is to stack a lot of crit and hit fast with a lot of spells.

Recommended Abilities

There is a lot of flexibility for Reflux but here are some recommendations.

  • Punishing Strike - Calls lightning from the sky in a line in front of you doing massive damage. Make sure to take the “Unavoidable Fate” tripod to turn it into a normal skill instead of a channeling skill.
  • Seraphic Hail - Summon a wave to crash into enemies and is a decent close-range damaging skill.
  • Frost’s Call - Generates a ball of frost at the target location that tics for damage and explodes after a few seconds. Make sure to take the “Unstable Rule” tripod to change this skill to a normal skill and not a hold skill.

Stat Priority and Engravings

Without getting too into the mechanics of the game as Reflux you’ll want to focus on crit and then swiftness.

The engravings you’ll want to keep an out for:

Reflux - Gets rid of your class meter but grants you increased damage and decreased cooldowns on all abilities.

Precise Dagger - Increases crit chance at the cost of crit damage.

Adrenaline - A stacking attack power buff (a stack is generated per ability cast) that grants crit chance at max stacks.

Tips for PvP

In PvP, everything is equalized and the game requires you to make a separate loadout for PvP.

  • Swiftness should be the stat you put most of your points in. This way you have shorter cooldowns and have faster movement speed to evade attacks. You should also have 1 point into crit because without it you cannot crit at all. Therefore, it’s worth it to take a value point in crit.
  • Lightning Vortex and Frost’s Call are all good initiators because they provide a good amount of crowd control and allow for great follow-up damage. However, be careful because you may get jumped after they see you use these abilities. Make sure you have the “Paralyze” tripod for Lightning Vortex for a chance to apply electrocution to your enemy for more crowd control.
  • Squall, Reverse Gravity, and Seraphic Hail are good tools to use to try and get an opponent off of you. Make sure you have the “Lightning Whirlwind” tripod for Squall for a chance to apply electrocution to your enemy for more crowd control.
