The Uncharted Movie's Video Game Origins

Of course, the Uncharted movie is based on an action-adventure series of the same name by developer Naughty Dog. The first game - Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune - was released on PlayStation 3 in 2007 and was followed by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in 2009, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 2011, and Uncharted 4: Thief’s End in 2016.

The series follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher, and Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

There have also been other titles in the franchise, including the prequel Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PlayStation Vita and a standalone game - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - that was released in 2017 and follows Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross.

Earlier this month, Naughty Dog released the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection as a way for players to play PS5 remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Are There Scenes From the Games That Will Show Up in Uncharted?

The first Uncharted trailer revealed that the film is taking some heavy inspiration from Nathan Drake’s adventures from the video games, despite this being a prequel of sorts. From a marooned pirate ship to the exciting sequence from Uncharted 3 where Drake is being dragged behind a cargo plane, there should be plenty of great callbacks for fans of the franchise.

How Many Directors Has Uncharted Had and How Long Has It Been in Development?

Did Tom Holland Get a Haircut For Uncharted?

Holland did get a special haircut for his role as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie, and he loved it so much he requested that Peter Parker adopt that hairstyle instead of a wig.

“My hair in Uncharted is much cooler,” Holland said to Esquire. “I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker. He’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.

“For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f***** wearing that wig. You can just . . . I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it.’”
