DanMachi ~Memoria Freese~/Astraea Record (2024)

Astraea Record (アストレア・レコード) is an event in DanMachi ~Memoria Freese~. It was written by Oomori Fujino and released in 2020 in commemoration of the game's third anniversary.

It was divided into three parts titled Rise of Evil (邪悪胎動), Fall of Justice (正義失墜), and Decisive Battle of Good and Evil (正邪決戦), which were released on June 19, July 16, and August 13 respectively. On August 27, The Conversation of the Ordinary God and Heroes (それはなんてことのない神と英雄達の話), the Extra Story of the event, was released.

On August 28, the day right after the Extra Story was released, Oomori published a short story, A Dream of Tranquility from Faraway (それは遥か彼方の静穏の夢), a What If focused on Alfia. The story itself was later adapted as an event on February 28, 2023.

The event takes place seven years before the start of the story and shows the events that took place during the Great Feud (大抗争), also known as the Seven Days of Death (死の七日間), which was the worst war during Orario's Dark Age.

Its theme song is Justitia sung by Ryuu Lion (Hayami Saori).

A light novel adaptation written by Oomori Fujino himself, with illustrations by Kakage, was announced on June 15, 2022.

Chaos had replaced order and blood was washed with blood in Orario's Dark Age.
To put an end to the worst spectacle in history, a familia that symbolized justice rose up.
This is the story of certain dependents that lived through that dark age...

Summary[]

Part 1[]

While walking around the city, Bell noticed it was too silent. He encountered Hermes and asked him why was he carrying so many flowers. The God replied he was gonna visit some places to conmemorate those who died that day. Realizing Bell didn't know what he was talking about, Hermes explained him it had been seven years since the Great Feud, an event that took place during the Dark Era.

Seven years ago, after defeating a group of Evilus which was attacking a magic stone factory, the Astraea Familia discussed with Shakti about their recent movements. Shakti told them it was the fourth time they had attacked a magic factory and they always took the hammering system of magic stones. However, they were unable to figure out what they were planning.

The next day, Alise and Ryuu went to patrol the city. Ryuu said that the city seemed dead, with Alise adding that things were even worse before. While they were talking, a girl approached them and thanked them for saving her the other day. Once she left, Alise told Ryuu that she was an example they were making a difference. At that moment, a God cried for help, having been stolen. The thief tried to escape from them but was stopped by Adi, who had just arrived, and then asked him to return what he had stolen. Instead he started to complain saying it was their fault, as they had still not gotten rid of Evilus, forcing him to steal since he was unable to work. Adi replied that what he had done was still a crime and was becoming part of the problem as well. She then told him they would let him go if he promised to not commit a crime again. Ryuu tried to protest but let it happen after Alise supported her idea. Once the man had left, Adi told Ryuu that forgiving was another form of justice.

After that, the God who had been stolen appeared and presented as Eren. When he heard they were part of Astraea Familia he said it was interesting how they were in search of justice, particularly Ryuu due to how she was. He talked with them a little more until he realized what time it was and left. Adi then informed Ryuu that a branch of the sacred tree from her home forest was being sold in Orario, but they had been unable to locate it. Ryuu said she didn't care, but Adi and Alise were easily able to tell she was lying. Before leaving, Adi promised her she would take it back. Alise then told Ryuu they should go back to patrolling but before they could Lyra arrived and told them they had received orders from Finn.

In the Loki Familia home, Finn was discussing with Riveria and Gareth. Despite all the information they had gathered they were also unable to discover what was Evilus plan. While they were discussing what to do, Loki arrived saying Evilus was attacking adventurers in the dungeon. Riveria asked Finn if they should go but he replied he had already told Astraea Familia to take care of it.

Vito was attacking a group of adventurers in the 18 floor until Alise, Kaguya and Lyra arrived to stop him. Despite working together, they were unable to defeat him. Vito finally decided to retire when he heard that reinforcements were coming. Alise tried to go after him but Kaguya didn't let her do it, pointing out it was a trap. After reuniting with the rest, they decided to go to a place in the floor which only they knew. There, Ryana said it was like a paradise and jokingly added she would like to be buried there, which everyone agreed with. Ryuu told them to not talk about that, making everyone tell her they could die at any moment. The Elf replied she knew but didn't want to think about that yet. Hearing this, Alise asked her to never change and told everyone it was time to go back to the surface.

In the industrial district, Ottar and Allen inspectioned a magic stone factory that had been attacked. Allen said all the second class adventurers that were protecting the factory had been defeated. Ottar commented that was not how Evilus operated and the same had been happening in a row, wondering if it was a single person's doing. When they saw a broken wall, Allen said it could be someone like him, pointing out it was made of Adamantite. Ottar noted there was no technique involved, meaning whoever had done it had used only raw power. Allen mentioned he haven't heard about someone like that joining Evilus to which Ottar replied there could be a new member.

Later at night, Olivas asked a hooded man why he haven't kill adventurers when he attacked, saying it would had been easy with his power. The man replied asking him if he had ever eaten insects before, which confused Olivas. He explained Olivas that for him killing was like eating and he didn't want to kill them as it would be the same as eating worms. Olivas said it was fine but that when the time came he expected him to unleash his power. Once he left, the man wondered if Orario would be able to overcome what was gonna happen.

As Asfi informed Hermes about Ottar's discover, Loki, Freya and Astraea had a meeting to discuss what they knew. Loki told them Evilus had been using subordinates for activities outside the city, precisely in Dedine. She added they were able to do it due to the help of merchants, who wanted the Guild gone to make business related to magic stones. On another part, Hermes didn't understand why they were helping them only until now, saying it would had been easier to destroy Orario 8 years ago. He guessed there could be a new person more poweful than them, which could also be who destroyed the factory.

During their patrol, Ryuu, Kaguya and Lyra were approached by Eren. When they asked him what did he wanted he said he was just bored and decided to talk to them. When they tried to leave he asked them until when would they continue doing that. Intrigued, Ryuu asked him what was he talking about. He said they were providing a free service and wondered until when would they do it. Ryuu told him that until it was not required, making Erebus ask if it wasn't until they were worn out, saying it seemed unhealthy to do that. The girls started to get upset and decided to leave. Hearing this, Erebus decided to go but before doing so he wanted to make a last question, which was what was justice. Lyra said it was time to go so Erebus provoked them by asking if they didn't knew. Angered, Ryuu told him justice was a good faith used to destroy evil, which he said that it was a forceful justice as she was forcing her values and winning power through violence. Ryuu protested it wasn't what she meant and finally left after a brief exchange and an apology from Erebus.

The next day, the Ganesha Familia organized an attack to a church where Evilus stored illegal items. However, when they entered they found that everyone was lying in the floor already defeated by a mysterious woman. Adi asked her why she had done it to which she replied it was because they had disgraced that place, which her sister was fond of. When she was leaving they tried to capture her but she easily dealt with them using magic. Waking up some time later, Shakti decided the best was to recover what had been stolen instead of going for her. Adi asked her if the woman was on their side but she said there was no way to be sure about that. Once they found the branches taken from different Holy Trees from Elven forests Adi asked if she could give to Ryuu the one from Ryumilua, her home forest. Shakti said they couldn't decide what to do with the items, but that there should be no problem with giving it to Ryuu, as she was from the forest it came from.

The day after the operation, the Astraea Familia went to volunteer in a charity event. However, no long after they started Valletta arrived and started to attack the people. Alise, Ryuu and Gareth tried to stop her but she left soon after being informed that their other plan had failed. As Gareth fought the Evilus members that stayed the Astraea Familia attended the wounded. While she was helping, Ryuu saw Eren help a little girl. He then apologized to Ryuu, saying that helping others was good indeed, as it made him feel superior. Ryuu told him he was wrong as they didn't help to feel superior. Seeing her reaction, Eren said her definition of justice was lonely and asked her again what was justice. Finally, Ryuu decided to ignore him and go help other people.

Later, a meeting between the leaders of Loki, Freya, Ganesha and Astraea Familias, and Royman, was held. During the meeting, Loki Familia explained that the devices stolen from the factories were being used to make explosives. Ottar also said the one who had attacked the factory was at least Level 6. Finally, Shakti told them about the woman they had encountered. Once they had finished, Finn decided to move into the main topic. Thanks to Hermes Familia, they had been able to discover Evilus had three new bases, and were planning to attack them at the same time. Loki and Freya Familias were assigned one each while the third one was assigned to both Ganesha and Astraea Familias. However, due to a spy they had in the Guild, the higher ups of Evilus got to know of the plans.

On one of her patrols, Ryuu was still thinking about what Eren had told her and his question, unable to come up with an answer. When she encountered Adi, she asked her what justice was. She tried to give her a simple answer, but Ryuu knew that was not what she thought. Adi replied that it was true and although it wasn't that simple they would continue searching for answer and regardless of what happened justice would find them.

The day of the operation Finn had a bad feeling, but decided to continue in order to finish off Evilus. In the base they were asigned, Astrae Familia encountered Valletta and ordered her to surrender, telling her the place was surrounded. However, more of her subordinates appeared and started to attack them. Seeing one of them was a little girl, Adi tried to reason with her and got closer, only to be killed with a knife the girl was carrying. The rest of Evilus members started to throw themselves to their enemies and explode to kill them. At the same time, a chain of explosions started in and outside the building. Before leaving, Valletta explained them the first explosion was a signal and now they wouldn't stop.

Realizing the true target was the city, Finn and the rest tried to save as many people as possible. However, due to the lack of adventurers, they were unable to stop Evilus, who killed many adventurers as well. Seeing that some adventurers were frightened, Astraea told them to calm and gather people in the middle of the city to protect them. When Hermes saw her he told her she shouldn't be out without protection amid such chaos. She asked him why was he there then to which he replied that he couldn't let something happen to her, and that he also wanted to fell like Ganesha. Finally, after some talking, he decided to go with her.

Finn set up a base at the center of the city and ordered to send Ishtar Familia and Tsubaki as reinforcements. He also told everyone to deal with the suicidal attacks using magic swords to ignite their bombs. Despite being sure they could win with the forces they still had, his intuition still told him that something worse was about to happen. At that moment, Raul arrived reporting that their entire forces in the southwest had been defeated by a man with a greatsword and a female mage.

Allen tried to attack the man but his attack was easily blocked. When Ottar got there he immediately told Allen go with Freya to protect her. He tried to protest but gave up after Ottar raised his voice and begged him to do it. After Allen left Ottar asked the man, Zald, what was he doing there.

At the same time, Riveria went to deal with the mage. She used Wynn Fimbulvetr against her but was surprised when it was nullified. Gareth arrived and charged against her but was defeated after a single magic attack from her. Seeing her magic, both Riveria and Gareth recognized her as Alfia from Hera Familia. In another part, Ottar asked Zald why was he attacking Orario if he had been part of Zeus Familia and protected the city. The man explained him it was because of his disappointment due to how Orario had become. After telling the same to Riveria and Gareth, Alfia proceeded to defeat them. Noting she had already attacked, Zald said he should move too. After being easily defeated by Zald, Ottar was retrieved by Allen, while Asfi rescued Riveria and Gareth.

Seeing all this, Hermes wondered which God was behind all that, pointing it was too perfect to be made by a person. Having a bad feeling, Alise went to where her Goddess was, relieved she was still fine. A God appeared before them, telling them to witness what was about to happen. At that moment, nine pillars of light appeared, meaning nine Gods had been sent back to Heaven. This left many adventurers vulnerable and unable to defend against Evilus. Erebus, a God who Ryuu also recognized as Eren, appeared proclaiming themselves as absolute evil and said they would destroy Orario.

Part 2[]

Due to the recent events, people gathered in the gates, since they wanted to leave Orario, but were unable to do it as bombs were thrown over them. Evilus was attacking them from the walls and had surrounded the city in order to prevent people from leaving and reinforcements from coming. Loki and Finn discussed their situation, conscious it could make the citizens turn against them at any moment. Gareth joined them, making Finn wonder if he had already recovered, to which the Dwarf replied he was already fine. After being informed of what had happened he asked where were the rest, seeing there was no one else. Finn told him they had stablished their final defense in the Central Park in order to prevent that their enemy destroyed Babel, which he thought was their goal.

Gareth then asked him why they didn't destroy it the other night, pointing out it was their best opportunity. Finn theorized they had decided to play safe as the amount of first class adventurers gathered there would had given them a chance of winning. However, he was still unable to figure out why they had decided to do so, as they would had been able to deal a great damage if they continued attacking, wondering if there was something he didn't know about. Raul came reporting their camp for citizens in the industrial district was under attack. Gareth volunteered to go but Finn replied Riveria was already there. The Dwarf said she had still not recovered, asking him if he was not being too hard with her. Finn said it wouldn't be a problem for Riveria, although he said "she" could be it.

In the industrial district, Ais defeated a great number of Evilus members and was lectured by Riveria due to her reckless attitude. Ais explained her she had done it since she was still recovering and didn't want her to get hurt. While she appreaciated it, Riveria told Ais not to do that again. In another part of the city, despite their efforts during the Great Feud and the fact they had been working non stop since then, citizens complained to Astraea Familia because they had been unable to protect them. A woman blamed them for the death of her child, which Ryuu identified as the girl that had thanked her and Alise the other day. Overwhelmed by all of it, Ryuu collapsed while remembering Erebus question about what was justice.

Waking up in her Familia's home, Ryuu was greeted by Kaguya, who told her they had to get going to fight Evilus. Ryuu asked her how could everyone act like normal despite all what had happened. Kaguya called her an idiot and answered that everyone knew something like that could happen and were prepared for it, except for her. She refused to accept it, however, Kaguya insisted it was the truth. Hearing their discussion, Alise decided to intervene. The Elf girl asked her if she had also prepared to see their friends die and what was justice, but Alise replied she didn't had an answer that would satisfy her. Filled with despair, Ryuu fled from there. Kaguya told Alise she had been too straightforward with Ryuu, to which she replied she couldn't just lie to her. Bothered by their mood, Lyra decided to go after Ryuu and told Kaguya to go with her. Alise tried to go with them but was convinced by Lyra to stay.

After leaving, Ryuu ran around the city. Once she stopped, she saw Shakti giving orders to the rest of her Familia members, impressed she was acting like that despite having lost her sister. However, she became enraged after hearing her say they shouldn't show mercy to the enemy and be a fool like Adi. Ryuu confronted her for what she said, refusing to believe Adi's actions had been foolish, but soon left after seeing her expression.

On the gates, people continued to complain about their condition, making Falgar repeat that supplies would be eventually distributed. Asfi was thinking about the current situation when she was distracted by Hermes' arrival. She tried to tell him he couldn't go around without protection but was interrumpted when he named her the new captain. Confused, Asfi asked for an explanation and was at a lost of words after hearing the former captain, Lydia, had died.

Heavily injured, Ottar broke through the various members of Evilus who tried to take advantage of his condition to kill him. Once he had finished, Allen asked him where was he going. Ottar replied he was going to kill Zald, which Allen pointed out he was in no condition to, but he said it didn't matter. Hearing this, Allen suddenly attacked Ottar, who asked him why he did it. Allen said he would die if he went to fight Zald so he should at least let him earn excelia by killing him if he was disposed to throw away his life like that.

After bringing Ottar to his knees, Allen asked him when did he become so weak. He said he had given up everything in order to defeat him but now he wasn't the warrior he had wanted to surpass. Surprised by his words, Ottar asked him if he had done it for him. Allen denied it, saying it was the will of their goddess, adding that now he was just a disappointment and he would be the one to defeat Zald instead. Hearing that, Ottar stood up again and stated it had to be him the one to defeat Zald, Allen declared they would leave the planning to Finn while, in the meantime, they would kill each other.

Without realizing it, Ryuu came back to the factory where Adi had died. There, she encountered Ais who told her she would defeat her as she thought she was a dangerous person. Due to her bad mood, Ryuu accepted her challenge and both started to fight. However, the fight was interumpted as Riveria went for Ais. Not wanting to be seen by her like that, Ryuu escaped before Riveria could clearly see her.

As they were looking for Ryuu, Kaguya and Lyra came across a scene that surprised them, as Syr was giving food to people. She also invite them to go to the Hostess of Fertility, telling them it was a safe place to stay, though no one believed her. However, a man said there was no point in all that, as Evilus would kill them and adventurers would be unable to protect them. Syr told him that adventurers were doing their best and suffered as well for the lives they couldn't save. Taking advantage that they had no guards protecting them, Evilus attacked the people there, but were defeated by Kaguya and Lyra, making people feel guilty for the treatment they had given them earlier.

Being the new captain, Asfi was unable to give orders to her Familia due to how nervous she was because of all the reports from Evilus. Gareth said he would take care of some of them and advised her to not panic, as that was Evilus' intention. She tried to give the title to Falgar, feeling she was not appropiate for it, but after some words of encouragement from him she was able to calm down and efficiently perform her duties. At the same time, Astraea was working along some Guild employees and volunteers to treat the wounded. One of them asked her why she didn't use her power to solve all that but she explained him she couldn't, as that would incite the evil Gods to do the same, and added it would also make the dungeon break its oath before the Promised Time.

On Evilus base, Olivas insisted they should attack Orario now that they were weakened., forcing Valletta to remind him the second part of their plan was just about to start. Despite this, he still continued to argue until Erebus stopped him and asked him what did he thought true evil was. Olivas didn't understand, asking him why did he said that, but Erebus continued, explaining him that being evil meant being hated. Therefore, absolute evil was something that destroyed everything. He finished by explaining him that because of that they had to do things properly, in order to not disgrace his name. Once he had finished with it, Erebus decided to go on a walk with Vito to have a talk with him. During their walk they encountered a group of adventurers, which Vito easily dealt with it.

While wandering around the city, despite having slain many members of Evilus, people only complained to Ryuu and blamed her for what had happened to them. Even though she had said she expected nothing in return she admitted for herself she actually did, remembering once again Erebus' words. As she kept thinking about it Asfi came to her and asked her for help to track down where were Evilus hiher ups hiding. However, she refused to help, saying she wasn't suitable for that and could end up seeing her die like Adi. Asfi tried to animate her, but Ryuu refused to listen to her, saying she knew nothing. They were interrumpted when a group of Evilus arrived and started to attack them and the people there.

In another part, Neze complained about the amount of items they had received, pointing out they wouldn't be able to resist with only that, but stopped after Alise cheered her up. Although she was acting as always, Alise was worried about the current situation, putting a concerned face once there was no one around. While lost in her thoughts, she was approached by Syr, who offered her a bowl of soup and to hear her after noticing she seemed troubled. Alise complained to her about all her concerns and explained her she was looking for the meaning of justice to give an answer to Ryuu and help the city, thinking it could determine whether they would be able to persist or not. Thinking for a moment about it, Syr finally spoke. She said she didn't know the answer but thought the problem was rather that justice was not visible at that moment, but despite that it was still there. Satisfied with it, Alise thanked her and went to tell Ryuu.

Encountering Lyra and Kaguya, Erebus asked them if they knew where was Ryuu. The girls replied they didn't know and asked him why was he interested in her. He explained them he wanted to see how an innocent and pure girl like her would react to absolute evil. He added that if they were able to tell him what was justice he would give up on doing so, but non of their definitions satified him. Having lost interest, Erebus told them he would allow them to leave, however, both of them stated they wouldn't let him go, so he decided to let Vito deal with them. Being near the place, Alfia heard what was happening and got there. Both Erebus and Vito asked her to take care of them, which she did after calling them useless. Lyra wanted to escape but was stopped by Kaguya, who told her they would kill them if they turned their backs on them. Alfia used her magic, which knocked them over.

Erebus and Vito were surprise with how easily she defeated them. Nevertheless, Alfia was able to tell Lyra was just playing dead. Taking advantage that she was distracted, Kaguya threw herself at the mage to attack her. Alfia was surprised she could do that even with all her bones broken and her sword shattered while Kaguya pointed out that, even though she had dodged her atttack, she had still been able to cut her. Before Alfia could end them, Lyra used the opportunity to throw an explosive and run away. Vito asked if they should go after them, to which Alfia replied they would let them leave this time.

Having seen the explosion from far, Ryuu went to investigate. When she arrived there was no one left, though she decided to continue looking around. Upon entering a church, which was the only place that was not in ruins, she encountered Erebus. Alfia appeared too, surprising Ryuu, but the God explained her he didn't want to fight. Instead, he wanted her to answer the question he had made her, and asked her again what was justice. Not understanding why he was asking her that, she asked him why did he do it. Erebus explained her he wanted to see how true justice acted before true evil, wondering if it would prevail and give answer. Angered, Ryuu asked him what was true evil which Erebus easily answered.

He repeated his question and the answer she had previously given him, now asking her if her definition had changed, if she had been repaid or given credit for what she did, finally telling her that her belief had betrayed her. Ryuu refused to continue listening to him but Erebus insisted she gave him an answer. He expressed his disappointment and mocked her for not being able to do it, stating he would now go for Alise to see if she could do it.

At the Astraea Familia home, Alise told her Goddess about her recent doubts, how despite being her child she couldn't define justice. Astraea replied she couldn't give her an answe, instead she incited her to continue looking for answers, telling her that it was okay and she shouldn't be afraid of venturing in search of the meaning of justice. Comforted by her words, Alise said she would continue thinking about it until she came up with an answer for Ryuu. At that moment, Ryuu heard an explosion from outisde.

In their base, Finn and Loki were looking at the reports of the Guild when he noted something strange. Although nine Gods had been sent back to Heaven only six Familias had been destroyed. Finn theorized the other three were part of Evilus, making Loki wonder if he was implying it had been an accident, but he replied it could had been a cover for another plan of theirs. At that moment, Raul arrived saying Evilus had attacked in the northwest.

Outside of the church they were in, Ryuu saw that Olivas, leading a group of Evilus members, was attacking the people there. Despite Hermes Familia efforts, they were unable to get rid of them and Asfi ended up severely injured. Having come up with an idea, Erebus told Alfia to protect the area and tell Zald to prevent reinforcements from coming. She complained about his orders but agreed to follow them. Once he was left alone with Ryuu he told her that if she stayed and watched Asfi die he would save the rest of people and tell his subordinates to retire. On the other hand, if she went to save the citizens he would let Asfi die, telling her to chose.

An hour earlier, Gareth and Shakti were on their way to help Hermes Familia but were stopped by Zald. At the same time, Alfia was confronted by Riveria and Ais. While fighting them Alfia was surprised to see Ais, calling her "the daughter of the dungeon", asking Riveria if they were planning to sacrifice her.

Raul went to Finn and informed him Evilus had made more attacks. Finn gave orders to protect the citizens and sent reinforcements, however, they were unable to go past Zald. Not having more forces to send, Finn order Raul to sent a message to Astraea Familia.

Once they arrived to their home Kaguya and Lyra were treated by the rest of the Familia members while they informed them and Astraea about what had happened. Hearing Finn's message they decided to go help, making Kaguya ask where Alise was, to which Neze replied she was locked in her room trying to find out what was justice. When they went for her she came out of her room. Intrigued, they asked her if she had found the meaning of justice, however, she lively replied she wasn't able to, much to their surprise and disappointment, and said they would have to continue looking for it, even if they got lost or made mistakes along the way. After it, all of them departed to go fight Evilus.

As Olivas continued to attack Asfi, Erebus pressured Ryuu to decide but she was unable to answer. When she finally gave up, she saw Asfi stand up and told Olivas that Ryuu and her Familia would come to save them. Olivas laughed at the idea but she insisted, saying she believed in Ryuu and that even if the citizens had attack them they would forgive them, as a friend had told her that forgiving was a form of justice.

While crying because of Asfi's words, Ryuu ran to safe her, leaving the church without giving Erebus an answer. As she fought, blazes were thrown at her. She resigned herself to die but instead was saved by a man who jumped in front of her to protect her. Ryuu was surprised to realize he was the man Adi had let go days ago. Moved by it, Ryuu thanked Adi for what she had shown her and told Erebus that justice would find them in many ways and she would fight him until the end, that being her answer. Olivas said he wouldn't let them win but at that moment Astraea Familia arrived, having come through the walls.

Seeing they were winning, Erebus decided to act, however, he was stopped by Astraea, who had been allowed to pass by Zald since she was not an adventurer and thought Erebus would like to see her. He was surprised to see her nonetheless he decided to take the opportunity and asked her what was justice, to which she replied that there were many justices. Not satisfied with her answer, Erebus changed his question and asked her what was absolute justice. Astraea replied there was not such thing as absolute justice and different justices could find a way to cooperate, putting Orario and her Familia as an example. After she finished Erebus said it was justice for the masses of an imperfect world and she would never get the answer she wanted. Astraea asked him why he questioned justice but he told her to ask her children if she wanted to know and left when he noticed the Astraea Familia was winning.

Later that night, Astraea Familia made a celebration and gave a lot of food to the citizens. Ryuu was surprised to see that the man that saved her had survived. He explain to her it was thanks to the armor he was wearing. Ryuu asked with a severe gaze if he had stolen it from an adventurer, frightening the man, but let him go after he promised to give it back.

Kaguya wondered if they would be fine since, even though the city looked lively again, they were using all their stocks but Falgar told her to not worry as it had been brought by Hermes, although they didn't know from where he got it from.

In another room Hermes complained about having to carry supplies from Demeter's secret hideout all the day. Astraea thanked him for his work, inciting him to ask her if he was gonna receive a reward and launch at her. He was stopped by Asfi who threatened him not to do that again and complained about him not caring about them. He told her he did but didn't want to make them worry and suggested to visit Lydia's grave, which she agreed with. Lyra arrived and and asked Asfi to make an item in order to defeat Alfia. She tried to protest, saying there was not enough time and she was injured too, but Lyra insisted, telling her she could if she didn't sleep and she and some mages would help her, and dragged her out of the room.

In another part, Rudra complained to Erebus about the plan, saying it had caused great damage to his Familia and Thanatos' as well. He simply apologized and asked if it was ready to which the God replied that it was as planned and left the rest to him.

At Astraea Familia's home, Shakti went to see Ryuu, who was embarassed for the things she had said. Shakti gave her the branch of the sacred tree from her home forest they had recovered. Ryuu wondered if it was alright that she had it but accepted it after hearing that Adi had wanted to give it to her. She apologized for what she said and Shakti forgave her, telling her that she was thankful she shouted at her back then. She added that now she was ready to visit Adi's grave and left.

After receiving a report from the investigation team sent to the dungeon, Finn ordered to gather all the Familias that still could fight at midnight in the Central Park and left to go find Ottar. Once they had gathered everyone he informed them that Evilus had used a God to summon a monster, which he called the Nightmare, from the Deep Floors during the Great Feud, and it was forcing its way through the dungeon, adding that it had been estimated to be as strong or stronger than a Monster Rex from the Deep Floors. Everyone was shocked after hearing of it but were encouraged by Finn, who told them they had a chance of winning and with their power they could win, announcing they would divide in two groups to fight Evilus and the monster. He continued and said they were the only ones that could do it, declaring they would stop chaos and end it once and for all.

Finn asked about the preparations to which Loki replied that they were done. In order to prepare for the final battle, they had moved all the people into five different places: the Guild headquarters, Ganesha Familia home, the Colosseum, the Casino and the Twilight Manor. An ice wall that surrounded the Central Park had been erected as well to protect Babel.

At Goibniu Familia's home Ryuu picked up her new wooden sword, Alf's Lumina, made from the branch of the sacred tree of her home forest. The smith that made it told her it wasn't completely forged and she should come back so he could finish it, which she promised she would do.

In the top floor of the tower Ottar tried to convince Freya to secure herself, prompting the Goddess to ask him if he thought he could lose. He replied that he didn't, so she said that then it didn't matter where she was, adding that she would be looking over his fight.

A report arrived, informing Loki Familia executives that the Nightmare had already reached Floor 20. Gareth said it could had reached Floor 19 already considering it took time for the information to arrive but Riveria said they shouldn't worry as she and Astraea Familia were ready to fight. However, Finn decided to change the formations and sent Gareth and Ais with them, saying his thumb had been twitching too much. They were surprised by it but agreed to do it since they trusted his instinct. In another part, Astraea told Hermes she thought Erebus was inside the dungeon. The God replied there was no way he could sneak inside but she insisted. Seeing this, he asked her what did she wanted him to do if it was true.

Before heading into the dungeon, Neze asked Lyra about the shield she was carrying, to which she replied it was a secret weapon. Seeing Asfi, Ryuu wondered if she was alright, making her complain as she had been forced to work 77 hours. She then inquired about the sword she had, aside from the wooden one, which Ryuu said it was Adi's weapon. Seeing this, Asfi told her to come back alive. Ryuu replied she would and told her to take care too. After it, the group left to go slay the monster.

As they made their way through the dungeon a swarm of monsters started to attack the party. Alise gave the order to ignore them and only get rid of the ones that got in their way. As Ryuu fought, Ais stayed staring at her and asked if they had met before. Not wanting that Riveria and her Familia knew about when they fought, Ryuu told her they had fought once for a Jagamarukun. Changing the topic, Neze wondered where they would fight the Nightmare, since it was as big as a Monster Rex, and Alise added that the constant spawn of monsters was also a problem. Riveria concluded they would fight in the 18 Floor, as it was spacious and monsters didn't spawn, which left everyone surprised, except for Lyra, who stated that it had been Finn's plan from the start and he had made them prepare until the last moment before they had to leave.

In the surface, Evilus started their attack by exploding the four gates in Orario's walls and led swarms of monsters inside the city. Royman was surprised by this but Finn calmly said he would had done the same. The Elf asked him then why didn't he protect the gates, to which Finn replied that it would had left little people to defend Babel. Valletta noted there were very few people protecting the places where people were and after hearing they were sending multiple scouts she arrived at the conclusion that Finn was using the people as a bait to lure their forces and search for Zald and Alfia. She also deduced that the wall of ice surrounding Babel was where the rest of their forces were. Since she couldn't sent just a small group neither everyone, as it would leave them vulnerable, Valletta opted to sent Zald alone to at least keep them busy.

Zald was observing the view of Orario destroyed when he was approached by Vito. After a brief talk he told Zald that he hated Gods and admired heroes and wanted to know why he, who could be considered the greatest of them, had fallen to the dark side. Instead of answering, Zald asked him if his hate was due to his inability to see colors. Vito was surprised by this but Zald continued, mentioning that, aside from his touch, the rest of his senses were gone and that was the reason of his hate and his insanity made it worse. The man called him a monster but Zald simply replied that heroes and monsters were almost the same, and that was why he had become evil. Finally, he answered Vito's question by telling him that he had fallen because it was necessary.

An Evilus member came and informed Zald about Valletta's order. Hearing this, he prepared and left, decided to end it. As he made his way to the Central Park he noted there was barely any resistance, like if he was being lured in, but didn't care about it, excited by the idea they had prepared a "feast" for him. When he finally got there he destroyed the ice wall, prepared to face all the opponents that were there, however, he was surprised when he saw no one was there. A moment later he noticed Ottar, who told him he wouldn't let anyone interrupt them. Seeing they had been able to lure Zald, Finn ordered to fire the signal. Once they did, a magic barrier covered the Central Park, locking Zald and Ottar there. At the same time, all adventurers that were hiding got out and attacked Evilus from behind, taking advantage of the fact they had gathered in the five fortresses, while the ones protecting them went from defending to attacking.

Valletta was surprised nonetheless she decided to calm down, confident that Zald would be able to defeat Ottar. Noting something wasn't right, she asked where were all the first class adventurers. An Evilus member infromed her Allen was protecting a fortress, the rest of Freya Familia executives were fighting Apate and Alecto while Riveria and Gareth were nowhere to be seen, as well as Astraea Familia. After thinking about it she ordered Vito to use Knossos and go the dungeon, saying that Finn had probably sent Riveria, Gareth and the Astraea Familia to slay the Nightmare. He commented that was too much power just for it, however, Valletta explained him that Finn could have figured out their plan there.

Finally arriving to the 18 Floor, the slaying group was surprised by the view, as all the trees were burning and the sky was gone. Kaguya compared it to hell while Gareth said that it looked like the Dragon's Vase. After getting rid of a group of monsters they started to get ready to slay the Nightmare they were interrumpted by Alfia. She said she would let them live if they let the monster destroy Babel but everyone refused and prepared to fight. Gareth was the first one to attack, however, Alfia easily dealt with him with a single magic attack. Ryuu and Ais tried to attack her but she beat them with magic too. Alfia was surprised they were still alive, saying they were most likely using magic tools. Gareth confirmed her suspicion, telling her it was made by Asfi, while Ryuu added that each of them had one.

The girls tried to attack her once again but they were unable to land a single hit. After evading some of their attacks Alfia said she would teach them how to wield a sword, taking Ais' sword from her. She then performed an attack, managing to get rid of Gareth and them with it. Riveria recognized it as Zald's technique, causing Alfia to explain them she could replicate any movement she had seen once. Gareth mentioned she had been extraordinary, even among Hera Familia, being a fighter as well as a mage and extremely talented. Hearing his words she asked him if he was praising her or insulting her and then returned her sword to Ais, saying it wasn't her thing. Ryana told everyone to retreat as Celty and Riveria released their magic, however, it was nullified by Alfia.

She then asked if Elves weren't supposed to be intelligent, as they attacked her with magic despite knowing she could nullify it. Riveria said she shouldn't talk like that to people older than her. Alfia replied that was worse, as she had lived so long for nothing, making Riveria mad, forcing Gareth to tell her to control herself, pointing out she was trying to provoke her. Lyra was surprised of her ability, as Alfia had been able to nullify multiple magics at once, but was sure there was a trick behind it. Alfia tried to attack the Astraea Familia again but Gareth jumped in front of them to protect them, saving them. Riveria tried to think about what to do, however, she was interrupted as attacks started to come from beneath the floor.

After opening a hole in the floor, the Nightmare flied up through it. At the same time, Erebus arrived too, claiming that he would carry out his duty and bring the apocalypse. He named the monster Delphyne and explained that the hole went down 19 floors, calling it a symbol of the underworld, stating that the Age of Gods would end. After his bodyguards told him to secure himself he gave them the order to take him to where Alfia was.

Seeing the monster, Ais went berserker and began to fight it alone. Riveria and Gareth were worried about her, knowing she didn't stand a chance alone, so Alise told them to go help her and left Alfia to them. They told her they didn't have a chance alone against a Level 7 but she assured them they would be fine, as they still remembered Finn's plan. Riveria thanked her and used Veil Breath on them before leaving. Once they left, Lyra complained to Alise, however, the others agreed with her, stating they would defeat Alfia. The woman asked them if they had finished and declared she would kill them.

Riveria tried to call Ais and make her retreat, however, she couldn't hear her, as she had been overtaken by her emotions. Gareth noted that, despite their attempts to damage it, Ais' wind was the only thing that could hurt Delphyne. And, to top it off, the monster had a regeneration skill. Although Ais attacks were able to restrain the monster, Riveria said it wouldn't last for too long, as the power of her magic and skill combined was harming her.

Alise used her magic Agaris Alvesynth as she prepared and got into her Familia's formation. Some time after the fight started, Alfia noticed they were keeping their distance and playing it safe, trying to make it an endurance contest. Kaguya was wondering how long it had been since the start of the fight when Vito arrived accompained by a group of Evilus members. He was grateful to get there before the end and prepared to battle. Not wanting to bother the rest, Kaguya opted to fight them herself and told Lyra to support her. Once she had finished wih the rest she went for Vito.

Alfia was impressed by the increase in their speed, specifically Alise's, alluding it to a skill. The girl praised her for noticing it and started to tell her about it but was stopped by Ryuu, who told her to not give that information away to the enemy. Alfia complained about how annoying they were, which Alise said was in fact a good skill, as it had allowed them to distract her. Right after she said that, Lyra charged against Alfia and hit her with her shield though it did nothing to her. The mage told her there were things she just couldn't do, which Lyra agreed with. Nonetheless, she said it had still been useful, as it had helped her understand her magic. She then proceeded to explain to the rest that her magic was not a barrier but rather an enchantment. Alfia asked her if it made a difference to know that, prompting the Pallum to continue and say that as long as she kept her magic it would continue exhausting her, which meant they only needed to resist until then. Alise was happy to hear that while Ryuu stated that her wish to avoid "noises" had been her weakness.

Alfia praised Lyra for her deduction, which she appreciated, and asked her if she wouldn't turn her enchantment off. Seeing they had misundertood her, Alfia told them it was not their sound she hated the most but rather her own. She explained to them that Silentium Eden worked not only externally but internally too, greatly decreasing the power of her attacks. Noticing she had already undone the enchantment, Alise ordered everyone to retreat, however, they were still caught in the attack. Looking at the consequences of it Alfia refered to it as the proof of her sins, calling it the most unpleasant of all, while Kaguya and Vito were impressed by it, the former worried for her friends and the latter claiming that as long as they had her and Zald they would win.

On the surface, everyone felt the tremors from the fight in the dungeon. Valletta was excited by it, stating Orario would soon be destroyed, so she ordered to call the tamers and release the monsters they had. Falgar was surprised to see more enemy reinforcement though it didn't worry him, since he was sure they were also monsters from the surface. However, everyone was surprised when they started to see them kill some high class adventurers, with Asfi wondering if they were enhanced species. As she enjoyed the show, Valletta exclaimed they were monsters from the dungeon raised in Knossos, some of them being even from the Lower Floors and below. Raull informed Finn the groups in the city had been eliminated while the guards in the fortresses were going to be defeated, so he decided to change the formation and ordered everyone to protect the fortresses. At that moment, a tremor went through the city, making Finn wonder what it had been while Valletta stated that the other battle was over. Inside the barrier, Zald praised Ottar, telling him he had lasted longer than he expected.

On the 18th floor, Lyra asked how did they survive, which Ryuu said it had been thanks to Riveria's magic. Alfia was amazed they were alive, wondering if she had become weaker, or Riveria stronger, nevertheless she pointed out that now that the magic was gone they wouldn't be able to avoid it. She also pointed out that the others were holding their own pretty good fighting the Nightmare, especially Ais, saying she didn't expect the prelude of Orario's destruction to be so interesting. Hearing this, Ryuu asked her if she felt nothing for summoning a creature like that. Alfia replied that the noise bothered her but she would bear with it if it would eliminate her disappointment. Annoyed, Ryuu shouted at her, asking what was she disappointed of. Bothered by her, Alfia told her that if she wanted to know she would tell her.

Zald was surprised of how many strikes Ottar had been able to resist, but stated it would end there. Despite all of his preparations, he had been unable to come close to winning. Zald reproached him that he was the strongest of his generation, saying they just kept disappointing them and Orario never had a chance to avoid being destroyed. Ottar asked him what he talking about to which Zald replied it meant precisely that adding that their acts to kill people had been necessary. In the dungeon, Alfia told the Astraea Familia that their disappointment came from the helplessness of Orario, the world, and even themselves. Lyra asked her to be more clear, making the mage tell her that despite killing the Behemoth and the Leviathan they had been defeated by the Black Dragon. She narrated how even though their Familias members had people respected as warriors with unmatching power they had been easily overpowered by the Black Dragon, which showed her that adventurers couldn't fight against true despair and no one from the current era could defeat the Black Dragon.

Zald told Ottar the world yearned for a hero and questioned if a true hero could be born in this generation, something that had been proven to not be possible when they were defeated by the Black Dragon, concluding that the only solution was to bring back the Age of Heroes. Through releasing chaos across the world they would create the perfect conditions to give born to a new hero, determined to do as many sacrifices as needed for an opportunity to defeat the monster. Alfia said the heroes of the past era, although received help from the Spirits, had been able to overcome the threat of monsters with their own power. Proof being that a hero from that time had managed to damage the dragon's eye and drag it away, succeeding where they failed. Neze asked her if she was implying she wanted to destroy Orario to save the world, which Alfia confirmed.

Seeing they had the same goal, Lyra asked her if they couldn't work together but she replied they couldn't, as they had still not faced the dragon neither knew true despair. Their conversation was interrumpted when they saw a tornado pass near them. They wondered if it was caused by the Delphyne but were surprised to see it was created by Ais. Using her skill and magic, Ais was being able to retain the monster, though Riveria and Gareth were worried as she was harming herself. Alfia was surprised by her power, comprehending why Hera had wanted her, and told Astraea Familia to take a look, saying it was a power that could only be achieved going beyond terror and despair, using her as an example to show she had reason. When the girls refused to accept it she challenged them, telling them she would stop if they prove her wrong by showing her a power greater than that and to show her the power of their will and justice.

Having heard the their talk Kaguya was impressed of her words, calling her insane. On other hand, Vito admitted he was shocked too, nonetheless he pointed out it was still legitimate. She argued that nothing could justify a massacre but he interrumpted her, noting Alfia's and Zald's mindset was based on their experience, something she knew nothing about, and their goal was the same as theirs. He told her there was a fine line between justice and evil and a true and a fact could be either. To give her an example, he asked her to tell him how did he look like for her. She replied he was a blood thirsty beast that enjoyed violence, leading to him saying her vision was a fact, but not his truth. He then said that, for him, she was a greyish thing. He proceeded to explain her he had been born with a deficiency, making it so that he saw everything in gray, voices sounded like noises for him, everything tasted inedible and he couldn't smell anything. Despite this, he was fine with it, until he learned the red of blood was the only color he could see, which he found beautiful.

Seeing his own blood didn't work, and that it also had to include a negative emotion, such as pain or terror, he began to attack other people, becoming unstoppable before he realized it. He was even able to experience his other senses through violence, hearing screams of despair and smelling blood. Because of this, he thought of himself as a defect of the world, therefore a proof that the world was imperfect, which was the reason he wanted to revenge. In order to do so, he had joined Evilus to destroy the world, expressing a desire to later rebuilt it as a paradise so that no one like him was born again. Once he had finished, Kaguya asked him if she should feel pity for him, something he denied, telling her he had only wanted her to know the difference between truth and fact, so that she had some understanding when he defeated her. After it, he started to attack her again, easily overpowering her, as he proclaimed that was his evil and justice.

Zald stated didn't care about what others thought of him, however, he had promised himself one thing he was determined to fulfill. Deciding he had talked for too long and not wanting to wait for Alfia and the rest he opted to destroy Babel by himself. Ottar told him to stop, making Zald wonder how would he stop him, as he was severely injured, but was interrumpted when the Boaz hit him and took his helmet off with a strike. Shocked at first, he quickly realized Ottar was upset, asking if his reasons to fight were the cause. However, Ottar didn't let him continue and started to shout, exclaiming he didn't care about what he said. Instead, he asked Zald how injured he was underneath his armor, leaving the man astonished. He said he didn't care about his promise but was able to understand his will through his sword, stating he was trying to act as a challenge for them to become stronger, just like Maxim 8 years ago.

Zald said he didn't understand what he was saying, however, he asked him that if it was true then what motivated him to go so far. Ottar replied it was due to the disgrace he had experienced and his own weakness that he cursed, declaring that was the reason his answer was still the same, which was to beat him down. Hearing this, Zald said he couldn't defeat him and challenged him, telling Ottar to prove him there was a conquer within him.

Orario adventurers started to fight back again, reassured by the sounds of Ottar's battle. Annoyed by it, Valletta ordered to release the rest of monsters they had. A subordinate of her informed there were no more tamers and without them the monsters could attack their allies too but Valletta insisted anyways, not wanting to wait for Alfia and Zald, decided to break through the barrier and wall to destroy Babel and Ottar.

Seeing this, the veteran adventurers from Orario left their positions and went to the center of the city to get of rid of the monsters in a suicide attack. Valletta was bothered by it but still ordered to continue the attack, knowing they wouldn't be able to kill all of them. However, they were unable to, as Allen kept running around the barrier killing anything that got near it.

As he continued fighting, Ottar reflected over his enemy and the gap between them, knowing he was inferior to him in every way in terms of status, using his willpower to continue. He remembered how he used to be alone, only seeking power for the honor of his Goddess. However, now, for the first time, he heard the voice of others, saw their sacrifice with admiration and respect, and wanted to win for them. Passion surged as he heard them asking him to become a hero. Although he didn't comprehend it he was fine with it, converting that willpower into power to defeat his opponent. As he prepared to end the battle, Ottar asked his Goddess to forgive him, as he was going to fight for someone other than her for the first time ever.

Ottar began the chant of his magic Hildis Vini, ready to deliver his most powerful strike. At the same time, Zald began the chant of his own magic, Rea Ambrosia, decided to end the battle. Finally, they charged at each other and their attacks clashed, sending a tremor through all the city and destroying the ice wall and the barrier. Everyone was impatient to see who had been the winner, with Valletta confident it had been Zald, asking what had took him so long. Once the smoke had faded, Ottar came out, showing himself as the winner.

The adventurers celebrated his victory while the members of Evilus were left startled, not believing Zald had lost. Still affected, Valletta ordered the tamers to direct all the monster that were left to the center of the city in an attempt to kill Ottar now that he was weakened. Having come down from her room, Freya ordered Ottar to stay still as she updated his status. After she finished, Freya asked Ottar if he was ready to prove he was the strongest and once she had his confirmation she told him to kill the monsters that were coming. Following her order, he delivered a single strike, leaving everyone amazed, as the power behind it was the proof that he had become Level 7. Noting the enemy was confused, Finn ordered to attack them. Seeing the turn of events, Hermes confirmed the victory on the surface while trusting the victory in the dungeon to the Astraea Familia.

On the 18 floor, Erebus was surprised to see Astraea, who had been taken there by Hermes Familia. He asked her if she was gonna judge him there, which she denied, knowing that if she did he would be absorbed by the dungeon instead of going to Heaven. Instead, she replied that she had come to see him and witness the result of the fight there.

Having heard Alfia's words, none of the girls spoke, unable to give her a proof of such power. Ryuu stood in front, making Alfia ask her if she had an answer. To her surprise, Ryuu said she didn't, as she was too immature to give her a convincing proof of what justice was. She told Alfia she was determinated to follow her belief and now was lost but justice would never come around to her if she stayed with that mentality, saying there would be no future if she wanted to go back to the past and would end the will of those who died. Therefore, she stated she woudn't let her do that, since it would make everyone's death meaningless, telling her they would carry everything and strove for the future. Provoked by their words, Alfia stated she would end things now.

Vito couldn't understand how simple words could encourage them to continue as he saw them fight. Kaguya said they should carry justice and repeated that it would always come around, irritating Vito who asked what was he then and where was justice for him. Kaguya told him he believed only in his own thoughts and assumed no one would try to understand him as things were simply unfair, justifying himself with anger. For that reason, she concluded he was helpless and justice wouldn't come around him. She said they would continue passing justice and wills, so that people yearned for the future instead of the past, something that Vito considered unacceptable, refusing to believe in justice and declaring he would destroy everything. Tired of him, Kaguya told him to shut up and used a technique with which she was finally able to take him down, and left to help her friends.

As the battle continued Alise noted Alfia's power was dropping and ordered them to use hit and run tactics. Seeing this, Alfia decided to change her strategy and tried to attack them but was stopped by Kaguya, who called her old and said it was time for her revenge. Alfia praised her enthusiasm, though she ordered her to retract, informing her she was twenty four years old. Kaguya tried to provoke her again by pointing out she was younger, however, Alfia told her she was bad at it and that she was not jealous. She said people aged quickly unless they lived fast and recklessly, adding that they became older each time they regretted something, saying it was regret what had brought both her and Zald there.

Zald asked Ottar if he had lost after waking up, congratulating the Boaz for his victory. Ottar said things would had been different ten years ago and wondered if he really should be proud. Zald told him to not look down on him and to be proud of himself, as he had defeated him despite being stronger than ever. Ottar asked him if he regreted killing the Behemoth, which he denied, saying he had done what he had to for his will and allies. He said he regret one thing but was unable to mention it as he started to cough. Freya told him to rest and that she would see his departure, with Zald saying he was lucky to have her instead of that old man. He then called Ottar and told him to not be satified, to continue aiming further, which Ottar said he would do. Before dying, Zald told everyone to become stronger, and finally passed away. Freya declared the last member of Zeus Familia was gone now while Ottar thanked Zald in his mind.

An adventurer went with Asfi and informed her of Zald's death as well as that there were almost no monsters left. Falgar tried to go after the Evilus members that were escaping, but was stopped by Asfi, who pointed out they were already exhausted. Athough they couldn't capture them all she wanted to at least catch the higher ups, though she was unable to after Raul arrived and told her she had been instructed to command all their forces along with Shakti. When she asked what had happened to Finn Raul replied he had gone to fight alone.

Valletta cursed as she recieved multiple reports from her subordinates, telling her that their allies had lost motivation, tamers were having problems and even Apate and Alecto Familias had already been defeated by Freya Familia and were getting ready to retreat. She ordered to make them continue the attacks and tell the higher ups gather in Knossos. One of them told her they couldn't do another attack as they had spent too much of their fighting force in the recent battle, but she still insisted as they could feel the ground shaking, showing that Erebus and Alfia hadn't been defeated. She told them to go for Alfia and was about to continue when she suddenly stopped, seeing that Finn had used Hell Finegas and was going for her.

Seeing this, she assembled the last forces of Apate and Alecto to kill him. Knowing he would go berserker because of the magic, she decided to take advatange of it and made a plan to isolate him and kill him. However, he was able to figure out their strategy and beat their forces. Valletta couldn't believe how he had been able to do that but Finn explained her that every time he used his magic a part of his consciousness remained. After getting rid of the rest of her forces he went after her, though she managed to escape to Daedalus Street. Although he wanted to go after her he decided to let her go since the war wasn't over yet.

In the dungeon, Astraea Familia battle against Alfia continued. Alfia tried to use her magic against Ryuu, however, it didn't work. At the same moment, she also started to cough blood, leaving the girls astonished as they hadn't done anything. As she saw her, Lyra recalled Finn's words, recognizing that he was right.

Before the battle, Finn, Riveria and Gareth had called Astraea Familia to give them information about Zald's and Alfia's weaknesses, so that they had a chance to win. Riveria told them that despite being extremely talented, Alfia was unable to become the strongest due to her incurable disease. Finn told them she had been born with it and had even manifested as a skill, with Riveria adding that no magic or item had been able to cure it. As for Zald, Gareth said he had been slowly devoured by his problem for the past years. Finn revealed he had a rare skill called Deus Ambrosia, which Gareth said that boosted his status everytime he ate, with the boost being proportional to the power of what he ate. He told them that during the battle against the Behemoth he had eaten the flesh of the monster, greatly increasing his status, killing it with a single strike. However, as a consequence he ended up poisoned with the monster's deadly poison, forcing him to leave the battleground after it.

Finn told them that due to this they were able to fight only for a limited amount of time, their condition getting worse the longer the battle took, so they should prolong the battle if they were to fight them. Lyra asked how they could be sure if they were still being affected by them, saying they wouldn't had gone against Orario if they couldn't win. Finn admitted she had a point, however, he said they had evidence of it, such as their retreat during the Great Feud and the time it passed before they showed up again.

He also reminded them about Evilus' activities previous to the Great Feud as, aside from the machines they stole from the industrial district, they had done two others. The first one was activity from the members in Dedine while the other was cutting branches from Holy Trees from Elven forests. The reason for them was to get cures for Alfia and Zald, as there was a herb that could serve as a detoxicant for him in Dedine and eating a branch from a Holy Tree improved Alfia's condition.

Seeing her condition, the girls told Alfia to surrender, however, she refused to do it, stating she would bring the Nightmare to the surface and destroy the lid of the dungeon. Alise asked her what they had to do to stop her, to which she replied they had to be heroes and prove themselves. Hearing this, the Astraea Familia prepared to fight once more and charged against her. Amid the battle, Alfia began to the chant of her third magic. The girls tried to not let her finish but were unable to stop her as she continued concurrent chanting. Fortunetely, before she could release it, Lyra hit her with her shield, nullifying her magic. Alfia asked her how had she been able to use her Silentium Eden, making Lyra remind her she had hit it before, which made Alfia realize she had seen it before. Even though it had broken, she explained her the shield had been made by Asfi and Tsubaki and was able to snatch away any effect. She then said she had actually received it from Hermes and used to be from Zeus, its name being Aegis.

After she finished her explanation Lyra told Alise and Ryuu to attack her, as she was unable to move due to just having use a special attack. Both girls approached her and, once they were close enough, used Agaris Alvesynth and Luminous Wind to finish her off. Alise stated they had won, which Alfia admitted, congratulating them for it. She then told them to engrave her image in their memories, as one day they could look like her, saying that justice was fragile.

However, she also said that even if it all turn to ashes what they left behind should be meaningful and if justice came around then hopes should be linked too, telling them that all would be assembled and one day the last hero would be born. Alise told her she understood and would never forget that moment, after which Alfia stated to walk away.

Ryuu asked her where she was going, with Neze pointing out she was going to the hole created by the Delphyne which had a huge fire burning at the bottom. The mage told them she should become ashes, just like her, and said her goodbyes to them and Orario before letting herself fall to the hole.

Seeing Alfia die, Erebus thanked her, telling her she had done well. Astraea said his plan was ruined, which he denied, noting that the Nightmare was still alive and they were too exhausted. He also added that no reinforcements would come from the surface regardless of if they won or lose due to the destruction caused by Zald and the rest. However, she refused to give up, saying she was there precisely for that.

Alise asked her Familia if they could still fight, which they denied, pointing out they had barely survived and had as well used all their items, with Kaguya adding that even if they recovered she wasn't sure if they were strong enough to help. Hearing their complaints, Astraea told them to not let despair consume them. The girls were surprised to see her in the dungeon, as Gods were forbidden to be there, which was why she told them to kept it as a secret. She then gave them some elixis to heal them and encourage them to fight. Lyra still insisted they needed measures to take, to which Alise replied they already had one, that their Goddess was with them.

Gareth told Riveria to do something to the Delphyne's wings to take it down so he could aim for its magic stone, disposed to take the risk despite not knowing where it was. She replied he would end up dying if he did it, prompting him to ask her what to do, as at that rate Ais was gonna be the one to kill herself. At that moment, the Astraea Familia joined the fight. Ryuu first went to calm Ais. The girl refused to work together, saying she would kill it alone, but came back to her senses after receiving a slap from the Elf. Ryuu said she needed to listen to them but she insisted on fighting it alone, until Alise arrived and told her she could never eat Jagamarukun again if she got hurt, drawing her attention, and finally calmed her down when she said she would also make the people that cared for her sad.

She then told her it was better if they worked together and convinced her to put her wind aside. Then, Alise said the three of them would distract the monster while the rest got ready to fight again. Ais wondered how they would defeat it since it came back every time she cut it, to which Alise replied she shouldn't worry, as they had just become Level 4. Both Gareth and Riveria were impressed to hear all of them had ranked up and also regained their hope, sure that now they could win. Once everyone was ready, they all began the final fight to end the battle.

After defeating the monster Riveria punished Ais for her attitude by repeatedly hiting her head. Gareth told her to go easier on her so she stopped and told the girl to not do it again. At the same time, Alise asked Ryuu to carry her as she was exhausted, with the Elf replying she could also barely stand. Alise then told her they should visit Adi's grave and also the ones of the rest of people that fought along them, which she agreed with.

Once everything was over, Erebus praised the adventurers for their victory and admitted his defeat. Kaguya asked him if he thought they would let him go, which he denied, stating that as the absolute evil he would always be hated and was determined to be like that for ever. Riveria said he would be soon sent to Heaven by other Gods and Gareth asked if he had any final words. Surprisingly for them, he said he did had a request which was to be send by Astraea and from a high place. Lastly, he requested that they let his children go, saying it was fine if they couldn't get out of the dungeon or were eaten by monsters but that they just let them go. Astraea accepted his petitions and then both Gods left the dungeon. After they left Lyra and Kaguya expressed their disgust for him while Ryuu reflected about about it, undestading that was what it meant to fight evil.

On the top of Babel, Erebus admired the view from there. He was surprised to see Hermes, realizing he had come to see him go. The God said he was sure he wouldn't mind and informed him everyone else had left as per his request while Astraea confirmed they were alone and told him everyone was looking up at the top of Babel. Seeing that Astraea was carrying a sword Erebus asked her to do it quickly without pain but before it Astraea told him she had a question. He wondered what she wanted to know and was left astonished when she asked him what was justice.

She pointed out how he had been asking everyone the same question, where to find it and how could it be proven as if he was trying to lead them to something, noting that now he was satisfied, having obtained an answer while seeing the adventurers fight. He tried to evade the question by saying he didn't know what she was talking about but gave up after she threatened to drag him down and interrogate him in front of everyone if he didn't answer. He regretted asking for her to be the one to send him to Heaven while she was happy that they were alone so she could bother him since he had always lived only thinking about pleasing himself, making the God said it had been a great mistake indeed.

Having come out from the dungeon, Vito had gone all the way to the top of Babel in search of his God, arriving just in time to see the talk betwen the Gods.

Astraea asked Erebus how would he define justice. He started by pointing out she had said there was no absolute justice, which he said was wrong, saying he knew what it was since he was absolute evil. She then asked him what it was, to which he replied that it was an idea. He explained that for him justice wasn't about making decisions but rather about reaching for it and winning it, creating more options to chose from. He thought people shouldn't be imposed with rules and they should make possible the impossible. He said people then would believe it as justice and gods would call it a hero.

Astraea asked him if that was his plan all along, surprising Erebus that she knew. Hermes told him he knew he wasn't ready to welcome death, to which Erebus replied he needed to see what made the world move forward, how Familias shined when overcoming obstacles to reach for their ideals and the hero the world yearned for. Hermes asked him if he couldn't come up with a better option than that to seek for the hero of the next generation but he said he didn't, pointing out that the world was currently helpless with Zeus and Hera gone and the Promised Time coming soon, so he had to do it that way.

He also added that, although Ryuu and the rest hadn't given him their answer, they would be fine as he had confirmed they would bring hope to Orario and finished by telling Astraea he had indeed done all of it just to please himself. Astraea said his action had been his justice, something he denied, reminding her absolute justice was an ideal and not the ego of a capricious god, which was why he decided to have full faith in evil. Hearing this, Astraea said that she had a declaration to make. She stated his evilness was an unavoidable one instead of absolute, something necessary to make the world a better place.

Astraea said that even if others hated him she would always remember his sins and would keep reflecting about them. Erebus asked her to not make him a jester as he was a "cool, charismatic and merciless" evil god and wanted to stay that way, though she kindly replied it wasn't her problem, which he agreed with. Once their talk was over, Erebus told Hermes to not tell anyone about what had been said there, which he promised he wouldn't do. Erebus thanked him for being a good friend and then told Astraea to finish it. Nevertheless, before it she asked him one last question, that was if he had ever loved the lower world, to which he replied that he did. Having received her answer, Astraea finally sent him to Heaven.

Vito continued running as he expressed his hate for his own God, furious that he had lied to him despite knowing how he was. Having his hatred reached its limit, he swore to destroy the world as he laughed. In another part, Valletta cursed Finn for what he had done to her, vowing to get revenge one day.

In the present, Hermes thanked Bell for coming with him. The boy said it was fine and asked him if everything he had said was true, unable to believe something like that had happened. He told him it was true and it had been the worst war in Orario's history that took away the lives of many.

However, he said it had also been an opportunity for many adventurers to rank up, as Finn, Gareth, Riveria, Allen, Hedin and Hogni had been able to reach Level 6 while Ottar had become Level 7, describing it as an event that took the entire city to the next stage.

Bell asked if Ryuu's Familia had also ranked up, which Hermes confirmed, though he noted they died shortly after but it had still been their justice what brought an end to he Dark Era. He added that was what he believed, as well as that Alfia's will hadn't been meaningless. Bell asked him about her but Hermes refused to talk, telling him to forget about it. They finally arrived at the last three graves, which Bell noted where separate fom the rest and looked unattended, prompting Bell to ask the reason for it.

The God explained him he would be beated if they were treated the same as the rest and asked him if he wouldn't mind helping him offer the two flowers he had brought. Bell was surprised by the sudden request but accepted it. Once they finished, Bell asked about the last one. Hermes replied there was a God hated by everyone and now with Astraea gone he would probably be the only one to give him flowers, leaving Bell confused. Hermes added that, although they didn't had to prepare a grave like that for gods, it was his way to express his gratitude.

Bell asked him if it was someone important to him, which Hermes said was precisely not the case, describing him as a helpless, self indulgent guy who liked to isolate himself, adding jokingly that his voice sounded like Bell's. However, he said he had been a good friend of him. After leaving him flowers he told Bell he had to go as he had a business to take care of, which was to deliver a letter from a certain person to a Goddess, asking him if he hadn't told him about the Elf he had encountered in his way.

In her letter, Ryuu told Astraea she was still seeking the answer to what was justice. She said she didn't knew if she was even lost, thinking she had lost the right to bear justice the day she was consumed by revenge, feeling she had ignored what she had learned 7 years ago and now was stuck. She then wondered if it wasn't all part of what she had to pass in her journey and finished by saying that when she was ready to search for an answer once again she would go to see her.

Astraea, for her part, told her to not let go despair as she ventured, sure that one day she would tell her the truth and, until then, she would continue watching over her.

Extra Story[]

Erebus asked Alfia and Zald if they really wanted to be part of it, saying it was a stupid plan, to which Alfia replied that what was stupid was that he asked now. Zald said they knew they were going to die so they had decided to do it after leaving something behind. The God made emphasize in that whether they won or lose they would be regarded as villains, awanting to know if they were really fine with it. Alfia replied he was getting annoying, telling him that their determanation wasn't weak and they had make up their minds.

Zald said he didn't care about fame after death and prefred to take his last breath being satisfied. He added that when it came to swords, women and life they should strike when the iron was hot, saying that was what his God used to tell him. Alfia complained about his attempts to touch her, expressing her frustation for about how he was still a great god despite that. Erebus jokingly asked if she had let him touch her, to which she replied she defended using magic attacks and even told Hera about it, making Erebus wonder how he had managed to not be sent back to Heaven or get killed.

Zald changed the topic and asked her if she shouldn't had gone to visit the boy. Erebus was surprised she had had a son but she corrected him and told him it was from her sister. She said the kid was a descendant from Hera Familia and at the same time from Zeus Familia. Erebus was amazed that his father was from Zeus Familia while Zald added he was in fact the weakest of them and they had discovered he had made her pregnant just after the battle against the Black Dragon.

Erebus asked where the boy was to which Alfia replied that he was somewhere with Zeus in the mountains. He asked her if she really didn't miss him since she had loved her sister but she said she didn't deserved to take care of him as she hadn't said nothing when her sister was dying neither protested when she gave him to Zeus. Zald tried to change her mind, telling her she didn't need the rigth to be his family, though he gave up after she told him it was really just because she didn't like to be called aunt since it made her feel older.

Wanting to know more, Erebus asked Alfia about her sister, wondering if she was like her. She said she wasn't, describing her as someone weak and even more fragile than her who was also extremely ordinary and had no talent for nothing. Zald asked her if she really had to say all that, with Alfia replying she did as she felt bad since she believed she had stolen all the talent that was for her inside their mother's womb. However, she said her sister was really kind and was loved by everyone, even Hera, stating that no one could compare to her in kindness and purity.

The God then asked about the father to Zald, who told him he was a supporter who used to run from danger and had even peep along with Zeus once. Nonetheless, he commented that now he thought he should had gone seen the kid once since he was one of them.

Having finished with it, he asked them what did they expected from the outcome of this battle. Both replied that it was future, with Zald saying he wanted the future heroes to surpass them and slay the Black Dragon while Alfia added they would bring hope to the world so that her sister's son didn't need to wield a sword. He asked them what their wish was in case he was involved in the final battle, to which both replied he wanted him to learn lessons and overcome challenges so that he became a hero, using the speed from his father to save others and the kindness of her mother to save others and make them smile. Hearing their answers Erebus felt sorry for the child for receiving such kind of love from people he had never met.

They finished by telling him to not test their resolve, making clear they had no regrets and were determinated to carry out their role to save the world, decided to entrust everything to the future heroes.

Erebus was in awe at them, thinking they deserved to be admired and feeling regret that he was about to stain them. Being the one who would start it he resolved to do it properly. He also thought about Vito, knowing he would hate him if he knew the truth. Despite calling it his form of love he knew Vito would never see it like and instead would just cotinue hating the world and think of him as an idiot for believing in an ideal, but still wanted to do it, wishing that one day he may understand him and care for something.

Having finished with everything, Erebus stated they would be an unavoidable evil from that day on and would be known as an absolute evil. However, he added that as God he would continue praising them forever for their accomplishments. Finally, he told them to get ready to witness the birth of the hero of the next generation.

• Initially the event did not have voices since it had not been possible to make the recordings due to the coronavirus. However, by the release date of the third part of the event, voices could finally be implemented for both the new part and the previous two.
• According to the author, the event in light novel format is 380 pages long only with dialogues.
• In a top of stories that the author doesn't want to turn into a light novel, Astraea Record is ranked first, being above the "wall that must not be crossed."
  • Like Grand Day, one of the reasons is the total war unleashed in both events, with the author noting that it would be even worse with the inclusion of other characters, such as the Freya Familia, as an additional element.
    • Oomori pointed out that, apart from that, although he did want to write it and already had the dialogue, which made it easier to write than a collection of books, he did not do it because he wanted to focus on DanMachi and Sword Oratoria.
      • Despite this, the event finally ended up receiving an adaptation in light novel format.
• At the time the event takes place, most of the adventurers were second class, between Level 3 and 4.
