1989 slide-in RV for sale, will fit any standard 8ft pickup bed as long as the truck's tailgate can be removed to fit the RV correctly (cannot fit on Dually)

Currently I use it on a 1996 Ford F250 (3/4 ton) bed.

The title is a Bill of Sale signed when I purchased the RV in August, 2021 in Maine (See photos).

This Hornet RV is ready to run for the spring, summer & fall of 2024. Technically, it's a 4-season camper because the electric-propane heater works great for the cold, it holds 2 x 20 gallon propane tanks in side compartment. The Hornet needs to find the right owner who will bring her back to top-notch condition, because there are some quirks and maintenance needs which I will list at bottom.

The Damon Hornet slide-in is a prized RV for many reasons: new toilet installed in 2023, new main skylight over bunk installed 2023, new AC/DC Power station converter & RV Battery charger installed in 2023. Included with the purchase is a brand-new 100ft heavy duty (all-weather) 12-guage extension cord to connect to off-shore electric outlet to run power separate from the RV battery (housed in rear compartment); also included are new heavy duty straps to attach camper to pickup bed valued at $100; and a brand new $150 RV/Marine Battery with one-year warranty!

The roof and siding has been sealed in Spring 2023, no water leaks. The RV received 2 new coats of paint in 2023, to keep an off-white color scheme with the scarlet "Hornet" logo visible on sides and rear. There is an original red/blue mural on the upper front that depicts a sunset/sunrise, I only brightened up the colors with some fresh paint.

Inside there's the CD/radio player with nice sound system, a functioning gas stove/oven unit in kitchen, fully functioning refrigerator (gas or electric powered), the water pump works for kitchen sink and bathroom sink. There's plenty of counter space for food-prep. All LED lighting for interior is new within the last 3 years. Plenty of storage space for food, clothes, fishing/hunting gear, common house utilities. New mattresses (single size & queen size) for both sleeping/sitting spaces with zipped spill-proof covers. 6 x 10 foot awning functions to create shady spot outside.

I purchased reflective window film, but only used enough to cover 2 windows. There is a whole roll left to use if the next owner wants to create more privacy for the windows. My mother and I hemmed, sewed new curtains/runners for the windows that are unique quilt-like fabrics made in India.

One of the best parts of the Hornet Slide-in is that the unit is attached to a "Stable-Lift" which is a hydraulic electric lift system used to move the RV up & down for loading, unloading. It works either powered by the on-board RV battery, or plug-in to offshore electric outlet. The bonus is unlike any other slide-in camper, this "Stable-Lift" is 100% safe to camp on while the RV is on land (unloaded off the truck). The solid steel pipe frame can easily be leveled to the spot you place it, and 1-3 people can easily enter and use the RV without wobbles or any risk at all. The foundation is super strong.

Because of the Hornet's age and style, she is quite the classic conversation piece at all the campground sites and road stops along the way. A true collector’s treasure!

The only drawback to the "Stable-Lift" is when the RV is loaded on the truck-bed, and the rails are fully lifted off ground: the clearance space between ground and the rails varies based on the lift-height of your truck. With the 1996 F250, there's 6in of clearance off-ground. So taking this RV onto bumpy off-road conditions is NOT recommended. So long as the road is generally flat with no steep drop-offs, the Hornet does great.

VIN: 1189540
Classic Camper VIN located on the doorstep floor upon entrance (see photos).

Now for the maintenance issues:

1. When I had the new toilet installed by RV professionals and at the same time had the water line “winterized” in 2022-23, they informed me that there was a previous gasket leak on the water line near the toilet, so they said without repair the “flush” would not work efficiently. This is a modest repair that would cost between $500 - $1000. I chose not to fix it and manually flush any waste down the toilet with bottled rinse water. I’ve maintained the cleanliness of the bathroom and grey/black water tanks.

2. Three or four of the windows require a cheap plastic crank replacement that costs $3-$5 each at any RV supply store. The plastic spindles/cranks break easily if not careful when opening/closing windows. This is not a big deal at all, but I preferred to use a metal spindle that I removed from a different window, as a “master crank” for all the windows.

3. I removed the water heater when I first purchased the RV in Fall 2021. It was drastically outdated and was not a clean unit. This opened up a-lot more storage space for me, but I never replaced the water heater, so no hot showers.

4. I also purchased the RV with knowledge that the camper had a 5in slice on the upper front, just beneath the mural. Rather than replace the small piece of pliable metal siding that got cut, I reinforced the hole with flex seal tap, and several coats of flex seal paint to glue it shut. This is not an aesthetically perfect repair but it’s worked to keep any moisture, or cold air out. The ding is faintly noticeable because the paint covers it so nicely. But that is another reason for the discounted price on this Hornet RV.

Serious offers only.
